Global Politics was founded in 2001 as one of the first Czech internet journals dedicated to International Relations and European Studies. The project aims to offer scholarly views of the current academic discourse in the fields of Political Science, International Relations and European Studies. It also tries to point to the reflection of political phenomena in culture and art.
As Global Politics is a student project, it mainly attempts to address students of the above mentioned fields and stimulate their interest in politics. Seeking to engage the student community in the ongoing scholarly discussion, Global Politics gives students the opportunity to publish articles, polemics and reviews.
Global Politics was founded by students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Law at the Masaryk university in Brno, Czech Republic in an attempt to support the development of the rather neglected field of International Relations in the country. In January 2003, the magazine came under the auspices of the influential Czech think-tank International Institute of Political Science and started to cooperate with its Student Section. At the beginning of 2006, the magazine changed its website, logo and editorial staff, which hopes to uphold the legacy of the founders.
